Performance Standards

System Adequacy

Standard: The heating system is installed to comply with the local building codes. Adequacy of the system is determined by its ability to establish an average temperature of 70 degrees F, as measured in the center of the room, 5 feet above the floor. In extremely cold temperatures (10 degrees below or colder), the system should be able to maintain an average temperature differential of 80 degrees from the outside temperature.

Coverage: Classic will address systems that do not meet this standard during the Limited Warranty Period.

Ductwork

Standard: Ductwork should remain attached.

Coverage: During the Limited Warranty Period, Classic will repair ductwork that may become unattached.

Duct Placement

Standard: Due to plan changes and elevations, the exact placement of heat ducts may vary from those positions shown in similar floor plans.

Coverage: Classic will not relocate HVAC ducts to accommodate furniture placement or the Homeowner's interior design.

What's Not Covered

The following are excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Heating system components - The components of the heating system are covered by manufacturer's warranties and are excluded from this Limited Warranty
  • Duct cleaning - Classic does not clean the ductwork prior to closing; while reasonable steps are taken to prevent construction debris from entering the ductwork, there will be construction debris in the ductwork. Duct cleaning is the Homeowner's responsibility and is excluded from this Limited Warranty
  • Duct relocation - Ducts will not be relocated to accommodate furniture placement or interior design
  • Ductwork noise - Some popping or pinging sounds are the natural result of ductwork heating and cooling in response to airflow as the system operates
  • Temperature variation between rooms - Depending on the style of home, temperatures can normally vary from floor to floor or room to room as much as 10 degrees or more on extremely cold days

Filing a Claim

If you believe you have a warranty issue:

  1. Work through the no-heat troubleshooting checklist (thermostat, blower panel, breaker, on/off switch, gas line, filter, vents, air returns) — even if it does not identify a solution, the information you gather will be useful to the service provider you call
  2. For component failures, contact the manufacturer under the manufacturer's warranty
  3. Request Service
