Performance Standards
Orientation Inspection
Standard: All doors must be installed without defects and correctly adjusted.
Coverage: During the Final Walkthrough/Orientation Classic will confirm that all doors are installed without defects and correctly adjusted. Classic will only repair construction damage to doors listed on the Final Walkthrough/Orientation form.
Adjustments
Standard: Because of normal settling of the home, doors may require adjustment for proper fit.
Coverage: Classic Homes will make such adjustments during the first Two Years of the Limited Warranty period.
Panel Shrinkage
Standard: Panels of wood doors shrink and expand in response to changes in temperature and humidity.
Coverage: During the Limited Warranty Period Classic will repair split panels that allow light to be visible. Touching up the paint or stain on unfinished exposed areas is your home maintenance responsibility.
Warping
Standard: Doors should not warp in excess of 1/4 inch within 24 inches.
Coverage: During the Limited Warranty Period, Classic will repair doors that warp in excess of 1/4 inch within 24 inches.
What's Not Covered
The following are excluded from warranty coverage:
- Construction damage not listed on the Final Walkthrough/Orientation form - Only listed damage is repaired
- Paint or stain touch-up on unfinished exposed panel areas - Homeowner maintenance responsibility
- Warping within 1/4 inch measured across 24 inches - Within tolerance
- Minor shrinkage separations at mitered joints in door trim - Homeowner maintenance (fill with putty, filler, or latex caulk and paint)
Filing a Claim
If you believe you have a warranty issue:
- Check if the damage was listed on your Final Walkthrough/Orientation form
- For warping, measure the warp - coverage applies when it exceeds 1/4 inch within 24 inches
- For fit problems within the first two years, note which doors need adjustment
