Performance Standards​

Code Compliance​

Standard: Insulation is installed to meet or exceed the building codes applicable at the time of construction and as described in your purchase agreement.

Coverage: During the first year, Classic Homes will address insulation that does not meet code requirements.

R-Value Requirements​

Standard: Insulation meets or exceeds R-value requirements specified in your purchase agreement for different areas (attic, walls, floors).

Note: Different areas of the home have different insulation requirements based on building codes.

Attic Insulation Installation​

Standard: Blown insulation is installed with adequate coverage to maintain performance after natural settling.

Note: The insulation installed exceeds what's needed after settling to ensure ongoing performance.

What's Not Covered​

The following are excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Insulation disturbed by homeowner activities - Including installation of speaker wire, storage, cable/network lines, or HVAC inspection. You are responsible for restoring insulation to smooth, even coverage
  • Cold air from electrical outlets - Electrical outlets on exterior walls may emit detectable amounts of cold air due to natural convection in wall cavities; this is normal
  • Natural settling of blown insulation - Settling is normal, expected, and accounted for in the original installation amount

Cold air from electrical outlets on exterior walls is normal due to convection in the wall cavity. This is not a sign of missing or inadequate insulation.

Filing a Claim​

If you believe you have a warranty issue:

  1. Review the Use & Care Guide for maintenance guidance
  2. Gather information:
    • Has insulation been disturbed (after attic work, speaker installation, etc.)?
    • Location of drafts or cold spots
    • Weatherstripping condition on doors and windows
  3. Request Service
