If you smell gas, immediately shut off the switch, leave your home, and report it to the gas company. Do not operate any electrical switches.
Performance Standards
Fireplace Operation
Standard: The gas fireplace should function properly when the manufacturer's directions are followed.
Coverage Period: 1 year (consumer product)
Normal Operation:
- A slight delay between turning the switch on and flame ignition is normal
- Flames should ignite gently and silently
- Flames will be moderate - not a "roaring" fire
Heat Source Limitation
Standard: Fireplaces are not intended to be the sole heat source in the home.
Note: Gas fireplaces are designed for ambiance and supplemental comfort, not primary heating. Issues arising from using the fireplace as a primary heat source are not covered.
Initial Use Odors
Standard: During initial operation, odors associated with burning off new components are normal and will dissipate with time and use.
What's Not Covered
The following are excluded from warranty coverage:
- Water intrusion during severe weather - In unusually heavy or prolonged precipitation, especially when accompanied by high winds, some water can enter through the chimney
- Damage from water intrusion - Any damage resulting from weather-related water intrusion
- Improper operation - Damage from failing to follow manufacturer's directions
- Normal wear and tear - Expected degradation over time
- Wind noise - Noise through the vent during excessive winds is normal due to the direct-vent design
