Total loss of heat when outside temperature is below 45°F qualifies as an emergency. Call 719-592-9333 immediately.
Performance Standards
Gas Forced Air Temperature Control
Standard: The heating system should maintain an average temperature of 70°F, measured in the center of the room, 5 feet above the floor.
Extreme Cold Standard: In extremely cold temperatures (10°F below zero or colder), the system should maintain an 80°F differential from outside temperature.
Temperature variations of approximately 15°F between locations are normal on extremely cold days due to floor plan, windows, and heat rising.
Heat Pump Temperature Control
Standard: Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling using the same system. Air from vents may feel cooler than with a gas furnace—this is normal.
Auxiliary Heat: At lower outside temperatures, auxiliary (backup) heat kicks in to maintain set temperature. If auxiliary heat light stays on when outside temp is above 30°F, contact a service technician.
Ductwork Integrity
Standard: Ductwork must remain properly connected throughout the warranty period.
Coverage: Classic Homes will repair ductwork that becomes unattached during the first 2 years.
What's Not Covered
The following are excluded from warranty coverage:
- Temperature variations between rooms and floors - This is normal due to floor plan, sun exposure, window size, and heat rising to upper floors
- Manufacturer component failures - Refer to manufacturer warranty for equipment issues
- Heat pump equipment - Heat pumps are classified as consumer products and are excluded from the Classic Homes Limited Warranty
- Damage from improper use - Including neglecting filter changes or blocking vents
- Duct cleaning - Not provided; EPA studies found no proof it improves indoor air quality
- Duct relocation - Classic Homes will not relocate HVAC ducts to accommodate furniture placement or homeowner interior design
- Humidifier-related damage - Classic Homes does not install humidifiers and is not responsible for damage from humidifier installation or use
- Modifications by other firms - Having another firm modify your system during the warranty period will void that portion of your warranty
Heat pumps are a consumer product and are excluded from the Limited Warranty. For warranty service on your heat pump, refer to manufacturer's warranty documentation and contact manufacturer directly.
