Performance Standards

Orientation Inspection

Standard: All doors must be installed without defects and correctly adjusted at closing.

Coverage: Classic Homes will only repair construction damage to doors listed on the New Home Presentation or Welcome Home Orientation form.

Adjustments

Standard: Doors should latch and operate properly.

Coverage: Because of normal settling, doors may require adjustment for proper fit. Classic Homes will make such adjustments during the first year only.

Hardware

Standard: All hardware must be installed without defects and function properly.

Coverage: Hardware listed on the New Home Presentation or Welcome Home Orientation Form will be replaced. Hardware that fails to function will be repaired during the first year.

Panel Shrinkage

Standard: Panels of wood doors shrink and expand in response to temperature and humidity changes.

Coverage: Touching up paint or stain on unfinished exposed areas is homeowner maintenance. During the first year, Classic Homes will repair split panels that allow visibility of light.

Warping

Standard: Doors should not warp in excess of 1/4" as measured across the plane of the door.

Coverage: During the first year, Classic Homes will repair doors that warp in excess of 1/4" in a section no greater than:

  • 42" x 78" in a 1-3/4" thick door
  • 36" x 78" in a 1-3/8" thick door
