For Engineered & Laminate Floors

Since these floors are pre-finished, repairs and replacement boards will be visible and may not match existing floor. Classic Homes will not replace floors or sections that fail to match due to repairs.

Performance Standards​

Orientation Inspection​

Standard: Hardwood floors should be installed without defects at the time of the New Home Presentation or Welcome Home Orientation.

Coverage: Classic Homes will correct any readily noticeable cosmetic defects with the floors that are listed on the New Home Presentation or Welcome Home Orientation Form.

Finish Quality​

Standard: During the finishing of the floor, minor dust particles, fibers, and other specks from the air will settle into the wet finish.

Note: These minor imperfections are expected and will normally wear down over time. This is not a defect in the floor and is excluded from the Limited Warranty.

Knot Holes​

Standard: Knot holes are natural characteristics of wood floors.

Coverage: Classic Homes will not fill knot holes or replace boards due to the presence of knot holes.

Separations and Gapping​

Standard: Due to seasonal changes that affect natural wood, shrinkage of the wood will result in separations between boards.

Note: Since shrinkage is a natural occurrence, it is excluded from the Limited Warranty. Maintaining 35-55% humidity year-round can minimize but not eliminate this natural movement.

What's Not Covered​

The following are excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Seasonal gaps and separations - Wood naturally expands and contracts with humidity changes; gaps between boards, especially in winter, are normal
  • Scratches from use - Wear from foot traffic, furniture, and everyday use
  • Finish wear in high-traffic areas - Dulling of finish is expected over time
  • Knot holes - Natural wood characteristics are not defects
  • Minor dust and fibers in finish - Small imperfections from the finishing process
  • Damage from improper cleaning - Including wet mopping, wax products, or unapproved cleaners
  • Sun damage - Fading or damage from direct sunlight exposure

If you believe you have a warranty issue:

    • Photos of the defect
    • Whether the issue was noted at orientation
    • Home humidity levels
