- Draws combustion air from outside

Understanding Your Fireplace's Purpose:
Look upon your gas fireplace as a luxury that adds to the atmosphere or ambiance of the home:
- Gas fireplaces are not designed to heat the home
- They do not create a "roaring" fire
- They should not be used as the sole heat source
- Your HVAC system is designed to heat and cool your home
Use the fireplace for ambiance and supplemental comfort, not primary heating.

Normal Operation
What to expect during normal operation:

Wind and Weather
Wind noise:
- Wind noise through the vent is normal during excessive winds
- This is due to the direct-vent design
- Not a defect or safety concern
Weather-related water intrusion:
- In unusually heavy or prolonged precipitation, especially with high winds, some water can enter through the chimney
- Consider professional inspection if this occurs frequently
Troubleshooting
Fireplace Won't Ignite
Before requesting service:

- Check gas supply - Is gas turned on at the valve?
