Man Made Stone

Man made stone is a popular, durable, low maintenance exterior finish. The type and color of the stone on your home is listed on your Design Studio selection sheets.

Efflorescence

The white, powdery substance that sometimes accumulates on stone surfaces is called efflorescence. Efflorescence is cosmetic and is not a defect in the stone. In some cases, efflorescence can be removed with soap and water. Efflorescence is a natural occurrence and is excluded from the Limited Warranty.

Tuck-Pointing

After several years the stone may require tuck-pointing (repairing the mortar between the stone). Otherwise no regular maintenance is required.

Weep Holes

You may notice small holes in the mortar along the lower row of stone. These holes allow moisture that has accumulated behind the stone to escape.

warning

Do not fill these weep holes or permit landscaping materials to cover them.

Warranty Coverage: See Man Made Stone Standards for coverage details.
