Install for Offline Use

You can add this Homeowner Guide to your phone, tablet, or computer so it opens straight from your home screen — in its own window, just like an app, with no web address to type. Once it's installed, much of the guide keeps working even when you have no internet connection.

Why install it

  • Works offline. After you install it, the pages you've visited and the search box keep working with no connection — handy on a job site, in a new home before the internet is hooked up, or anywhere the signal is weak. Each PDF guide is also saved for offline reading once you've opened it.
  • One tap to open. An icon labeled Guide sits on your home screen or dock — no need to open a browser or remember the address.
  • Full-screen and app-like. It launches in its own clean window, without the browser's address bar and tabs getting in the way.
  • Always current. The guide updates itself in the background. When new content is ready, a small Refresh prompt appears — tap it to load the latest version.
tip

Installing is free, takes a few seconds, and uses very little space on your device. You can remove it anytime, just like any other app.

Install on iPhone or iPad (Safari)

  1. Open guide.classichomes.com in Safari (this won't work in Chrome or other browsers on iPhone/iPad).
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom or top of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add in the top-right corner.

The Guide icon now appears on your home screen.

Install on Android (Chrome)

  1. Open guide.classichomes.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the menu button (three dots, ⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen (it may say Install app), then confirm.

You may also see a small Install prompt appear in the address bar — tapping that does the same thing.

Install on a computer (Chrome or Edge)

  1. Open guide.classichomes.com in Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
  2. Look for the Install icon at the right end of the address bar (a small screen with a downward arrow). Click it.
    • If you don't see it, open the browser menu (⋮ in Chrome, ⋯ in Edge) and choose Install Classic Homes Homeowner Guide.
  3. Click Install to confirm.

The guide opens in its own window and is added to your Start menu, dock, or applications list.

Opening and removing it

  • To open it, tap or click the Guide icon wherever your device keeps apps — your home screen, app drawer, dock, or Start menu.
  • To remove it, uninstall it the same way you would any other app or shortcut (press and hold the icon on a phone or tablet, or right-click it on a computer, then choose Remove / Uninstall). Removing it doesn't delete anything else.
note

Local search and the pages you've already visited work offline. A PDF guide becomes available offline after you've opened it at least once while connected.
