Connect an AI Assistant

If you use an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect it directly to this Homeowner Guide. Once connected, your assistant can search the guides, read any page, and answer your questions using the official Classic Homes content — with links back to the exact pages it used, so you can always verify the answer yourself.

This works through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants read information from trusted sources. The connection is free, read-only, and requires no account or password.

tip

Prefer not to set anything up? The chat button in the corner of every page already answers questions from the guide — no configuration needed. Connecting your own assistant is for when you'd rather ask questions in the AI app you already use.

The connection address

Every setup below uses the same address:

https://guide.classichomes.com/mcp

Claude (claude.ai)

  1. Open claude.ai and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  3. Enter a name like Homeowner Guide and paste the connection address above, then save.
  4. In any chat, your assistant can now search and read the guide. Try asking: "What does my Classic Homes warranty cover for concrete cracks?"

Claude Code (terminal)

If you use Claude Code, add the guide with one command:

claude mcp add --transport http homeowner-guide https://guide.classichomes.com/mcp

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT Settings → Connectors (available on paid plans; your plan must support custom connectors).
  2. Choose Add custom connector (in some versions this is under Advanced → Developer mode).
  3. Enter a name like Homeowner Guide, paste the connection address above, and select No authentication.
  4. Enable the connector in a chat, then ask your question.

Other MCP-compatible apps

Any app that supports MCP over Streamable HTTP can connect. Point it at the connection address above — no authentication is required. The server offers four tools:

ToolWhat it does
list_guidesLists every guide (warranty, purchasing, design, …)
get_tocShows a guide's table of contents
get_pageReads a full page as text
searchSearches all guides by keyword

Good to know

  • Read-only. A connected assistant can only read guide content — it cannot see your personal information, change anything, or act on your behalf.
  • Always current. The connection serves the same content as this website, updated at the same time.
  • Check the links. Assistants can make mistakes. Answers include links to the source pages here on the guide — when a decision matters (for example, warranty coverage), follow the link and read the official page. If anything in this guide differs from your Limited Warranty document, the Limited Warranty controls.
  • Questions about your specific home — like the status of a warranty request — still go through your Classic Homes team. See Who's Who? for the right contact.
